For reasons unknown to everyone, Toyota decided to bury half of the rear heater vents in the 100 Series under the rails for the front seats.
While this isn't ideal even with stock floor mats, it's is made even worse when you've got the tall Weathertech floor mats that block the stock heat ducts entirely! People in the second row don't get good heat, and the underside of your front seats get baked.

These heater duct extensions (both the drivers side & passenger side extensions are included!) bring the side vents out from underneath the front seat rails, while simultaneously raising the vent exits up & helping direct the air to where it's actually useful for the second row occupants.
They simply slip over the existing rear heat duct exits with a tight fit, and are retained by the friction against the floor carpet - they're secure and not going anywhere! You could add a dab of silicone if you really wanted to, but I don't think that's necessary at all.

These are printed out of glass-fiber reinforced ASA, so they're perfect for this application & fully capable of handing the hot air from the heater core.

Install is relatively simple and only takes a few minutes:

  1. Remove the two rear bolts on both of the front seats - this  allows you to press your shoulder into the back of the front seats & tilt them forward as your lean down.
  2. Slide the extensions over the stock duct exits. This can be a little tricky just because you need to get the duct extenders to slip into the opening in the carpets around the stock vents. Patience and not forcing things is the key here.
  3. Reinstall the seat mount bolts & snap the seat foot trim pieces back into place & you're done!

The plastic trim piece/cover for the inner mounting foot on the passanger side does requires you to trim a small amount off the bottom of it if you want it to sit just like stock after install of the duct extender. I didn't trim mine & and it doesn't block seat movement at all, but just as a heads-up.
