We've all done it: Get in the truck, close the door, and set our phone/wallet/change/etc into the door grab handle recess... only for it to drop down to the floor because Toyota didn't actually close off the bottom of the grab handle area! This addresses that problem by providing an easy-to-install solution that provides a floor for that space without getting in the way of using it to shut the door with. It contours perfectly to the area, and doesn't protrude out the bottom or otherwise interfere with any functions.Â
These are printed in a carbon-fiber reinforced ASA material that's made right here in Indiana! ASA is like ABS's superior cousin - in addition to being rated to handle heat up to 105C (that's 221F!), it's also inherently UV-resistant, which is why it's the choice for interior plastic trim in high-end vehicles.
Installation is straight forward: Simply remove the leather arm rest (it pulls straight up), and remove the big screw that it exposes. This will let you pull the interior door panel away from the main door body just a little bit - in turn, letting you easily drop the cubby down into place. The lip on the rear of the cubby should sit on the ledge in the back, and the 'notch' on the side of the cubby in the front should sit right at the interface between the leather (or cloth) and the plastic trim in the door. Once it's in place, go ahead and reinstall the screw you took out and pop the armrest back on. Voila!
